MICHIGAN YOUTH LACROSSE FOR 2010
We are very excited for the upcoming 2010 lacrosse season for boys and girls youth teams in Michigan. The MYLA Organizing Committee has been hard at work doing the things that our members have asked for. MYLA is focused on communication, technology, consistency, unity, and advancement. For the 2010 season, we're going to focus on four important things to get on the path to making youth lacrosse in Michigan the best that it can be.
1. Communication & Scheduling
This website is being programmed to help MYLA members manage their teams and their season easily. You'll be able to:
- Schedule Games with other teams anytime and anywhere you have web access. No big meetings to attend, and no need to play "phone tag"
- Contact other teams in the state and be sure that the latest updates are in the contact list.
- Your team schedule and field maps will automatically be published here so your players and families can get them easily 24/7. No need to create schedules, print maps, and send emails all the time.
- Schedules will be visible to the public while team personal info will be kept private
2. Common Rules
The Organizing Committee has been hard at work updating the rules for both Boys and Girls Lacrosse. We now have a common set of rules that everybody has easy access to. Please note that these rules are labelled for 2010. The MYLA Constitution and By-Laws will be in place for 2011, so you will have the opportunity to provide input to a permanent set of rules that can carry us forward in 2011 and beyond. In the meantime, the rules in place for 2010 will help us all from north to south and east to west play the same game. Click on the buttons below to view and print the official rules for 2010.
3. Youth Lacrosse State Championship
There have been many teams expressing no desire to have a State Championship. However if enough teams register with MYLA and desire to create a championship tournament, it will be sanctioned. This is not a priority at this time but will be an option for the future but only if there are teams to support it.
4. Michigan Select
MYLA will be fielding teams for U13 and U15 boys and girls. These are the teams that represent our state at major US Lacrosse national festivals and tournaments in the summer.
